This year has already seen the opening of some very exciting new spots, from basement bars serving sake cocktails to the first of many new London rooftop restaurants.

FOREST RESTAURANT AT SELFRIDGES ROOFTOP, MAYFAIR W1

ForestIt’s almost time to head back to London’s rooftop bars! Forest restaurant and bar is now open on the rooftop of Selfridges. It’s inspired by the turning British seasons and abundance of locally grown and foraged ingredients.

 

RESTAURANT OURS, SOUTH KENSINGTON SW3

In February, Tom Sellers, the chef behind Michelin-starred Restaurant Story opened the doors of his second London restaurant. Sellers is overseeing the menus, and Daniel Phippard (previously of Ernik in Moscow and London’s Kensington Place will take the role of head chef.

 

THE DETOX KITCHEN, MAYFAIR W1Drox

Founder Lily Simpson and the team behind The Detox Kitchen are opening a brand new flagship deli in Fitzrovia, following the first Detox Kitchen which opened on Kingly Street last year.

 

DUENDE, COVENT GARDEN WC2

This Covent Garden restaurant is the first solo space from Victor Garvey, co-founder of the very popular modern tapas spot Bravas Tapas at St Katharine Docks.

 

SHUANG SHUANG, SOHO W1

Situated in Chinatown, occupying an old Victorian building on the corner of Shaftesbury Avenue and Wardour Street, Shuang Shuang is London’s first dedicated hot pot restaurant.

Jason Atherton’s Japanese “izakaya” concept Sosharu is now open in Clerkenwell’s Turnmill Building. It serves sashimi, teppanyaki and robatayaki dishes, with a basement bar playing Japanese hip-hop music and serving cocktails made with ingredients such as sake, shochu and Japanese whiskey.

Simon Rogan launched a brand new dining experience at Fera at Claridge’s. Aulis at Fera will function as both a development kitchen and a private dining room, with a six-seat kitchen counter.

Damien Hirst opened Pharmacy 2 earlier this year, echoing the original Pharmacy which was once frequented by celebrities like David Bowie, Kate Moss and Madonna. The new restaurant is a canteen for gallery visitors during the day and standalone restaurant at night.
