Our pick of the best new restaurants opening this month in London.
You’ve probably already heard of the hugely popular street-food turned permanent restaurant Bao. The founders have just announced their second site, serving their signature Taiwanese steamed buns. Bao will take over the former site of Boopshis in Fitzrovia
A group of local foodies (including food writer Suzannah Butcher) have teamed up with owners of The Chef’s Deli, Ben and Jo Milne, to open a new Italian grill restaurant a short walk from Snaresbrook tube station. It will serve bombette (an authentic Pugliese street food) as well as charcuterie and cheese.
Head to Dip & Flip for an indulgent burger and chips, served with rich, succulent gravy. There are already Dip & Flip restaurants in Wimbledon and Tooting, with two more planning for Brixton and Battersea this month.
A new rooftop bar is arriving just in time for summer. Notch is to replace Roofnic, accessible via a secret entrance between 533 and 535 Oxford Street.
CIELO BLANCO, EXMOUTH MARKET EC1
Inspired by the barbacoa markets of Oaxaca, a new Mexican restaurant opens on the former site of Bonnie Gull Seafood Bar in the foodie Mecca of Exmouth Market. There is already a Cielo Blanco in Leeds, this is their first London outpost.
MORITO, HACKNEY E2
Hoxton is getting its very own Morito, a spin-off of the very popular Exmouth Market tapas bar. The new site, just a stone’s throw from Columbia Road Flower Market, will see Moro head chef Marianna Love head-up the kitchen alongside founder Sam Clark.
A new Indian restaurant and cocktail bar, inspired by the dive bars of India, arrives on Shaftesbury Avenue. Its menu of regional dishes has been devised by ex-Benares executive chef Sameer Taneja.
