The Biggest Event Trends for 2017

Social Media Savvy Content

We recently read that we post a staggering 1.8 billion photos to social media every day! The power of pictures is indisputable and these days event planners need to ensure that the content of every event is worldwide web ready! In 2017 Create will be social media savvy by creating a pre event buzz on Twitter, using teaser videos on YouTube to reveal speakers or entertainment, utilising a #hashtag on all pre event and at event collateral, posting behind the scenes photos during set-up to drive anticipation, ensuring our food & drinks offering is instantly Instagram-able, use social media platform linked photo booth providers and posting comprehensive case studies on our blog channels post event with pictures, quotes and the like.

Virtual Reality

Here are Concerto Group we are proud to say that we were early adopters of this technology and offer our clients exciting virtual tours of a number of our stunning venues.

As guests get younger we event organisers need to keep up with the expectation of the video-game playing, smartphone using millennial generation. Many organisations are now using virtual reality to take their event guests on exceptional ‘journeys’, to take guests through product demonstrations, to allow sponsors to communicate in new & exiting ways and to even allow guests to play games. Expect this technology to continue to develop over the coming years into something that can allow us to offer our clients a truly immersive event experience.

Adaptable Venues

In 2017 we are going to see the trend for adaptable venues really take off. Events are no longer formulaic. Clients may need meeting/workshop space during the day and reception space in the evening, all in one venue. Or it may be that they are after something out of the ordinary such a nightclub for a conference, or an industrial warehouse for a wedding.

With this in mind we will be keeping clients on their toes with the spaces we offer for their events…expect the unexpected from us!

International Interest

With the strength of the pound in decline the UK is going to become an increasingly attractive event destination to international markets. Here at Create we will be ensuring we can maximise on this by offering international clients a full service approach – venue finding (we are listed at some of the capitals most stunning heritage venues such as the V&A, the Natural History Museum and Plaisterers’ Hall), bespoke catering of a variety of international cuisines & exciting third party supplier sourcing.

Interactive Eating

With traditional event & conference formats in decline we have seen the growing popularity of a more relaxed approach to event catering. Food stations and bowl food remain in demand however event organisers are now looking for the next big thing – build your own tapas, juicing bars, live cooking stations and theatrical presentation such as an edible ‘pudding’ gardens. Here at Create we love developing new and exciting ways of feeding our clients guests, so keep an eye on our new season menus for our unique take on ‘interactive’ eating!

Health & Wellness

Unless you’ve had your head buried in the sand for the last few years you’ll be aware of the ‘health & wellness’ phenomenon sweeping the nation. We have seen the success of cook books by the likes of Hemsley & Hemlsey and Deliciously Ella, along with increased popularity of fitness retreats, mindfulness, ‘clean eating’ and of course, the avocado. We will be translating these trends into our food by providing our clients with bespoke ‘wellness’ menu design – think pressed juices, grains & pulses, lots of seasonal veggies, ‘superfood’ ingredients, salad bars & smoothie bicycles.
