Gemma Banks, our Head of Creativity, designs her dream dinner parties, if money was no object.

Dandelyan

Inspired by one of my favourite bars in London, Dandelyan, this is my first Dream Dinners…

Set against the industrial backdrop of Studio Spaces, one long dining table is set in dazzling jewel colours. The space is dimly lit in a pale amber hue.

A deep emerald green linen cloth covers the table, while bubble-gum pink napkins add a pop of vibrant colour contrast.

The place settings are framed with heavy matt gold cutlery and L’Objet malachite plates are the star of the show, complemented by venetian glassware.

Dream dinner 2

The centre of the table is filled with multi height, art deco gold candelabra with dripping gold taper candles lighting its length. Crystal bud vases of beautiful late summer dahlias interweave the candelabra.

For my first dream dinner I have decided to invite some (there are too many to pick all of them) of my music icons, music being my second great love after food…guests will include; Jimi Hendrix, Stravinsky, Patti Smith, Norman Jay, Billie Holiday, Shuggie Otis, Minnie Riperton, Frank Black, Frankie Knuckles, Philip Glass & Jim Morrison.

Guest invites, embossed gold lettering on emerald green card bespoke printed by the Wren Press, would request they arrive at 7pm for pre-dinner drinks. Dress code; Vintage Halston Heritage

On arrival guests are served a choice of a Barrel aged Negroni or a Dirty Martini accompanied by classic Create canapes;

Scorched sea bass with lemon aioli

Fig & goats cheese panacotta with thyme & hazelnut crumbs

Coq au vin with brown butter crumb & mushroom ketchup

As guests mingle, in one corner a pianist plays the atmospheric Philip Glass ‘Mad Rush’ on a Steinway Baby Grand

Dinner is called and guests make their way to the opulent, dimly lit banqueting table where they enjoy Hare Tartare, elder capers, crisp bread & quince terrine followed by a main course of Presa Iberica, charred octopus, chorizo jam, roast peppers & almond crunch, a gutsy Ribera del Duero compliments the food perfectly.

This heavenly feast comes to its close with decadent Chocolate marquis pave & light orange cremeux with a chilled Torres Floralis Moscatel.

As the clink of glasses & lively chatter fills the room, disco classics draw people to the dancefloor…

…where under a ceiling of shimmering disco balls, with a grapefruit whisky sour in hand, the eclectic mix of guests dance until dawn…
