Our pick of the best new London restaurants opening this April.

CHICK ‘N’ SOURS, KINGSLAND ROAD E8
Chick ‘n’ sours is a local fried chicken shop, but not as you know it! The Kingsland Road restaurant serves a quirky menu of herb-fed fried chicken, next level sides, sour cocktails, local beers and cracking soft serve ice cream creations.

THE LITTLE YELLOW DOOR, NOTTING HILL GATE W1
With top-notch food, killer drinks, silly games and free roam of the flat this is the ultimate house party — and everyone is invited. The Little Yellow Door is London’s friendliest food and drink pop-up. This is the first to allow guests to book on What’sApp and bills itself as “the ultimate flat share”.

JAR KITCHEN, COVENT GARDEN WC2
Jar Kitchen opened on Drury Lane in February. Its menu focuses on British, seasonal dishes made using ingredients from local suppliers. In the evenings the restaurant serves a selection of British cheeses and charcuterie.

PULIA, BOROUGH MARKET SE1
Italian deli concept Pulia has launched its first UK site in Borough Market. It specialises in produce from the southern Italian region of Puglia, from traditional breads and cheeses to salads, dried pasta, wine and olive oil. Customers can buy produce to take away or eat on site in the 30-seater dining area.

BLEECKER STREET BURGER, OLD SPITALFIELDS MARKET E1
Open now since the summer of 2012, the matt black burger truck is famous (infamous, perhaps) on the London street-food scene. This year Bleecker Burger opened its first permanent shop in Old Spitalfields Market. Bleecker uses rare-breed, pasture-fed beef from small farms in the UK. It comes to from The Butchery in Bermondsey, where it is dry-aged for about forty-to-fifty days, giving it an intense, beefy flavour.

BÓ DRAKE, SOHO W1
Jan Lee, one of the founders of a dance-punk band formed in 2003 at the Glasgow School of Art is now chef and owner of Bó Drake in Soho. His co-chef is Heath McDonald, whose inspiration and expertise are sharpened by Californian street food trucks and Korean/Mexican barbecue. What to expect? Food with attitude and attack.

TARTUFI & FRIENDS, HARRODS SW1
This April Harrods is opening Tartufi & Friends, a mecca for all things truffle located on the ground floor of the store. The Italian truffle lounge will serve everything from signature dishes like burrata with truffle honey to cocktails like the truffle martini. There will also be a selection of packaged goods on offer to take home, like truffle-infused chocolate and olive oil with white truffle.

BONE DADDIES SHACKFUYU, SOHO W1
Given that London has been inundated with Ramen restaurants ever since the success of Bone Daddies in 2012, it is miraculous that no one has laid a glove on the original. This yearlong pop-up sees the Bone Daddies team shine a light on another side of Japanese cuisine.

BISTRO BY SHOT, PARSONS GREEN, SW6
If there was a reason to make the pilgrimage to Parsons Green, Bistro By Shot is it. Bistro By Shot serves breakfast classics and seasonal lunch and dinner. At night, the Bistro comes alive. Soft lighting sets the perfect tone for a relaxed meal with friends and family. Handpicked wines and a selection of cocktails and spirits make it an evening of laid-back indulgence.

BEL AIR, SHOREDITCH EC2
If it can win a young Will Smith over, Bel Air life must be worth importing. This Shoreditch restaurant brings the Californian sunshine to London. Fresh produce and natural ingredients are the basis for a culturally diverse menu, bursting with goodness in the form of agave-pickled beetroot with coriander seeds and mint, a ‘deadly’ mango and coconut panna cotta.

THE RICHMOND HACKNEY, HACKNEY E8
Brett Redman from Elliot’s in Borough Market is branching out into the raw food world. In the space formerly occupied by the bizarre LMNT, The Richmond features London’s first raw food bar.

BULL IN A CHINA SHOP, SHOREDITCH E1
The dapper chappers behind The Drunken Monkey have embarked on their second East London venture, with another wholly East London theme. This 40 strong restaurant spot and 30 strong cocktail bar markedly reflects East London’s ever industrial, artistic persona. Bull In A China Shop is lovingly minimalistic and brimming with cool character thanks to interiors from Sara Lewin (of Cereal Killer infamy).
