Palace of Holyroodhouse

At the end of Edinburgh’s Royal Mile and against the backdrop of Arthur’s Seat lies the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Her Majesty The Queen’s official residence in Scotland.
Best known for being home to Mary, Queen of Scots, as well as the headquarters of Bonnie Prince Charlie during the 1745 uprising, this Baroque stronghold is an inspiring setting for state ceremonies and official entertaining.

Ampersand manages high profile events such as canapé receptions for the Royal Gallery launch parties, and runs a staff restaurant at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

In addition, we run a café in the Palace’s Mews Courtyard for daytime visitors to what is one of Britain’s leading attractions. The café offers high quality, homemade dishes from locally sourced produce. Visitors can choose from a selection of soups, speciality breads and freshly baked cakes.

Venue secret

Private tours of the state apartments with an expert guide mean that you and your guests can go behind the ropes in rooms not normally open to the public – such as the West Drawing Room, which the Royal family use as a private lounge. Morning tours finish in the café with light refreshments, while evening tours are rounded off with a glass of champagne. But you don’t have to end it there: for a special evening event, we can create a hospitality package for you to enjoy.

Afternoon Tea at the Palace

After a tour of Her Majesty the Queen's official Scottish residence you can enjoy a delicious range of homemade cakes, pastries and sandwiches. All served with an array of loose leaf teas...
