East Wintergarden – our beautiful blank canvas venue

We love East Wintergarden’s blank canvas appeal, and so do the clients who create events with us, but it does mean that visualising a potential event here can sometimes require a very strong imagination. At Ampersand Events, we decided it was time to show off the potential of this unique venue, so we created a special showcase to do just that.

With no on-site furniture, East Wintergarden takes on the design, branding and ambience of the styling you give it and the furnishing and props you use to furnish it. City Furniture Hire supplies East Wintergarden with a dizzying array of items, helping us to ensure that our clients can always create the exact look and mood they desire.

For this event, staff at the venue chose a comfy and contemporary look; from luxurious leather sofas to funky bubble chairs, the seating just begged guests to sink in! It was the perfect setting in which to relax, network and enjoy a glass of bubbles and some homemade Ampersand Events nibbles while the canapés were being prepared. A trio of musicians from the acclaimed Jazzbomb group helped keep the atmosphere laid-back and cosy with their cool jazz numbers.

To help ensure that every guest was relaxed as possible and able to fully unwind after a hard day at work, Ibiza Angels massage therapists were on hand to massage and de-stress guests.

Soon an Indian inspired selection of canapés created by our Asian catering partners Payal was served: Noorani kebabs, Murg malai tikka chicken, aloo vermicelli balls and spinach roll in black and sesame seeds were circulated, while drinks were offered from an eye-catching central illuminated circle bar.
'venue was transformed into a vibrant and magical yet calming and relaxed showcase'

As the evening turned into night-time, guests began to notice the full scope of the display delivered by the in-house EWG team. As the light faded from outside, the true splendour and atmosphere of within became clear. An "Ampersand Events purple” glow warmed the black and white furniture and some of the furniture itself was even illuminated to match the bar. Stilt-walkers stalked the venue, wearing softly draped gowns that were lit from within. The overall effect was both magical and futuristic and definitely left an impression.

It wasn’t just the venue that had an opportunity to show off its flair; our new chef Paul Yeo had created and prepared some beautiful bowl food for the occasion.

Guests could pick their fill from a menu of stilton, caramelised red wine poached pear and pickled walnut salad with chicory and thick French vinaigrette; tea smoked pigeon breast salad with grilled artichokes, puy lentils, cherry tomatoes and aged balsamic dressing; quail’s egg Scotch egg with a duck and cranberry jelly, with a watercress sandwich and homemade piccalilli; and beer battered pollack & chips served with a minted pea puree, with a dessert canapé of cranberry and candied orange Eton mess.

Paul is a superb addition to the Ampersand Events team, he understands our brand and ethos perfectly, and his dishes for this event were as stunning as they were delicious.

East Wintergarden’s blank canvas space truly came into its own for this event, and the venue was transformed into a vibrant and magical yet calming and relaxed showcase. The Ampersand Events and East Wintergarden teams had a great time creating and delivering this event, not to mention putting smiles on happy guests’ faces.
